Legal advice

If you have a legal problem and don’t know what to do about it, you might want to use our free legal service run by students from York College of Law. This is a free and confidential service. The students will meet you at Castlegate and then will write to you with their legal advice within 14 days.

Here is a list of subjects that people have asked for legal advice about:

  • Rights to see a daughter cared for by other family members
  • Problems with rented accommodation
  • Maternity pay
  • Rights when working and living in hotel accommodation
  • Accident claim
  • Holiday entitlement when working part time
  • Worker threatened with termination of employment because she is pregnant
